A mess of cables...

Ahhh the awesomeness that is cable management. Below is a photo taken today from my cell phone of a clients cable management solution. With such wonderful cable management, I'll give you three guesses how secure their network/applications were.

Their network maintainers are also their code maintainers?  That is a scary thought. :D

While not the same people, definitely the same mindset.

The nice thing about this wiring layout is that it's clearer where quite a few of the cables run.  Once you start bundling them, making them "neat", and running them under the floor, it becomes difficult to trace individual cables...how useful is that? ;-)

A valid point, regarding all those neatly bundled wires, a darn pain to trace.

I guess coding and network cabling are similar- wire numbering is akin to code commenting.  In a weird sort of way.

I guess you guys haven't heard that's the right way to install cables.  Once they get all pretty their so hard to trace and there is more interference when they are all tightly bundled.  But if my cabling looked like that I'd probably hang myself.
